OPTIMAL FLOW-RATEOUR GENTLE PROCESSING MAINTAINS THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF PAPER FIBERS, GIVING YOU A COFFEE FILTER WITH AN OPTIMAL, CONTROLLED, REPEATABLE FLOW-RATE.CHEMICAl-FREENATURAL ENZYME PROCESSING DOESN'T REQUIRE HARSH CHEMICALS, LEAVING BOTH YOU AND OUR PLANET FREE OF HARMFUL BYPRODUCTS. OUR PAPER
NATURAL ENZYMESTraditionally in paper filter processing, manufacturers use chemical bleaching (chlorine or oxygen-based chemicals) to whiten their paper pulp. Our process uses naturally occurring enzymes—laccases, xylanases, and peroxidases—commonly found in plants, fungi and microbes.
After raw-pulping, the paper fibers are submerged in an enzyme-rich ‘bath’ and the enzymes break down lignins in the paper (the compounds that cause brown coloration).
Our paper then undergoes an extensive washing process using purified water to remove any remaining broken-down lignin particles, leaving only a bright and ultra-clean filter material behind.
Finally, our paper is pressed and dried naturally before being cut and folded into the shapes we like to brew coffee with.
On an environmental level, the enzymes are biodegradable and do not release harmful byproducts into water systems or your brews.
On a coffee-nerd-technical level, enzyme processing maintains the structural integrity of the paper, allowing for optimal flow rate and extraction.
Neat, right?
